If you are bothered by signs of aging in the brow region, a brow lift may be right for you. A brow lift reduces wrinkle lines that develop horizontally across the forehead, as well as those that occur on the bridge of the nose between the eyes. It improves frown lines, the vertical creases that develop between the eyebrows and raises sagging brows that may be hooding the upper eyelids. A brow lift places the eyebrows in an alert and youthful position. A brow lift is often performed in conjunction with other procedures, such as upper and/or lower eyelid surgery and a facelift.

Reasons for considering Brow Lift Surgery:

  • Unsightly wrinkle lines on the forehead.
  • An angry or “too serious” appearance.
  • Drooping eyebrows, resulting in a tired look.

General Procedure

Eyebrows lift surgery can be performed in different ways. An endoscopic lift (involving a thin tube with a camera on the end) is performed through small incisions in the hairline. This allows the tissue and muscle under the skin to be adjusted and corrected. A “coronal incision” brow lift is an incision made from ear to ear across the top of the head. The forehead skin is then lifted, and muscle adjustments can be made under direct visualization. The resulting scar is well hidden within the hair.

The eyebrow lift surgery generally takes about one to three hours. If additional cosmetic procedures are being performed, the brow lift surgery could last longer. The results of your brow lift are immediately visible. This is the best way to lift eyebrows.

Recovery Process

Normally, post-operative instructions call for plenty of rest and limited movement in order to speed up the healing process and reduce the recovery time. Patients keep their heads elevated following surgery and perform no vigorous activity for as long as the surgeon recommends. Patients sometimes report minor pain, which can be treated with oral medication. While complications are rare, patients can minimize the risk of potential problems by carefully following the post-operative directions given after the surgery.
